Who is exempt from a prior Jordanian visa

  • Males over 50 travelling for medical treatment: with a medical report, hospital booking or evidence of follow-up issued by a Jordanian hospital only. Reports from other sources are not accepted.
  • Yemeni female travellers: accompanied by two first-degree relatives (father, mother, husband or children); a medical report is also required.
  • Holders of valid Gulf or European residency: residency valid more than 6 months, passport valid more than 6 months, and a return ticket to Yemen or a ticket to the country of residence.
  • Haya Card holders: visa on arrival at Amman airport.
  • Patients previously treated in Jordan: with evidence of prior treatment and medical need for continued follow-up.
  • Holders of Oman residency: with a confirmed round-trip ticket.

Males aged 16 to 50 travelling for treatment

  • No prior visa is required, but three conditions apply: prior security approval, a confirmed medical appointment with a Jordanian provider, and proof of financial means of not less than USD 2,000.
  • Final admission remains subject to approval by the Jordanian authorities on arrival.

Who must obtain a prior visa

  • Yemeni males aged 16 to 50 travelling for any purpose other than treatment — tourism, employment or otherwise.
  • Anyone who does not fall within the exempt categories above.

Children

  • Children under 15: a polio vaccination certificate showing three doses, certified by an official authority.

Transit through Amman airport

  • Transit time: not less than 3 hours and not more than 23 hours, with a confirmed onward reservation.
  • Important: the check-in counters of Qatar Airways, Etihad, Emirates and Saudia have been moved outside the terminal building. Passengers continuing on any of these carriers must have security approvals prepared in advance in order to reach the counters, collect their baggage and hand it to the onward carrier.
  • On FR, W6, UA, LH, OS and EY the passenger collects the baggage at Amman and re-checks it for the final destination.
  • Do not carry liquids, food or canned goods in hand baggage — these are confiscated by Amman customs.

What may be brought into Jordan

  • Honey: up to 2 kg, properly sealed.
  • Pets: up to two, subject to the required health approvals and permits, a certificate from the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature, and registered insurance.
  • Pieces on arrival: two sealed pieces; keep purchase receipts where possible.

General instructions

  • Passport valid more than 6 months for treatment, tourism and visit purposes.
  • Children under 16 may not travel unaccompanied; with an escort, the father's approval certified by official authorities is required.
  • Aged 16 to 18: may travel unaccompanied with the father's certified approval.
  • Critically ill patients may not be booked or travel without an accompanying doctor, and patients may not be booked in First or Business class.
  • Pets: coordinate with us before booking, and at least 24 hours before departure where an extra seat is needed.

Transit exception — arriving in Yemen

  • Seiyun-issued visas are accepted only at Seiyun airport, and Socotra-issued visas only at Socotra, with domestic transit permitted.
  • Holders of GCC passports may require security approval depending on the airport of arrival.
  • Saudi nationals: approval from the Saudi Interior Ministry or through Absher, plus security approval at the Yemeni airport of arrival.
  • Holders of a European passport or US permanent residency who qualify for a visa on arrival must carry a valid Visa or Mastercard bank card.
  • Turkish nationals: an invitation letter identifying the sponsoring entity, the entry and departure dates, and confirming its responsibility for the traveller throughout the stay.
  • Travellers arriving for humanitarian work, through international organisations, for media or journalism, or holding diplomatic passports: coordinate in advance with the relevant authorities, especially the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • All foreign nationals departing Yemen require an exit visa before travel.

If you are a Yemeni holding a foreign passport

  • Any one of the following establishes Yemeni nationality: a nationality certificate for those born outside Yemen, a Yemeni passport, a Yemeni national ID card, the Yemeni father's passport, or a Yemeni family card.
  • You are not required to present all of them.
  • If none is available, a prior entry visa issued by a Yemeni embassy abroad is required.
